D I S TA N C I A Is the debut album from Peruvian jazz guitarist Rodrigo Almonte. Combining his jazz, Peruvian music and Brazilian music influences, Almonte presents a unique proposal filled with musical emotion and interaction alongside an incredible group of international musicians.
Rodrigo Almonte is a Peruvian guitarist and composer based in Dublin. He has played extensively on the Peruvian and European jazz scene with his own different musical projects. His lyrical melodies, fresh chords and intricate rhythms are equally present and well-balanced on his solos and compositions. With his South American and contemporary jazz influences, Almonte brings a unique approach to music.
On this edition I celebrate the month of September with some reflective but uplifting Jazz for this time of the year with contributions by Michel Petrucciani, Sarah Vaughan, Enrico Pieranunzi, Dinah Washington, the Roy Hargrove Big Band, David Lyttle, Michael Buckley and others.
On this edition I feature Wayne Shorter's 88th Birthday with a selection of his "magical musical footprints" he has left during his extraordinary career and long long may it continue.
On this edition I feature a variety of Jazz musicians reflecting about Life and the passage and circle of all life, with contributions by Keith Jarrett's European Quartet, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Geri Allen, Joachim Kuehn, Joshua Redman, Abbey Lincoln, Max Roach and others.
The exploration of the Guitar Files reaches the Letter E in the 72nd edition of The Hot Box and although few in number, guitarists in this file are very big in reputation, especially for those of us who like the straight-ahead, post bebop styles.

Ubuntu Music has announced the signing of The Kevin Brady Electric Quartet for Plan B, their upcoming worldwide album release on 8th October.
Plan B is the latest studio album by acclaimed drummer and composer, Kevin Brady. It features the stellar musical talents of U.S. saxophonist Seamus Blake, Bill Carrothers on Fender Rhodes, and bassist Dave Redmond. Brady’s ambition was to record an album that consisted of new, original compositions that explore improvisation in an electric quartet format. While tipping their collective hat to the music of the 1970s Miles Davis Group, along with the groove and funk based music of Herbie Hancock, many of the musical themes deal with the impact of what is happening in the world as we know it now. The music is hypnotically insistent, all with a lasting story of experience and optimism.
