On this edition I’d like to remember the late great Tuba virtuoso and pioneer Howard Johnson who sadly passed away in January 2021 at the age of 79, remembered here with some of his greatest music as sideman, musical director and leader of his own groups, from his early days with Hank Mobley via his work with Taj Mahal and the Band to his leadership of All Tuba Bands like Gravity and others.
