Camilla sings of love, loss and longing, passion, desire and joy, and it is her mission to reach out and remind us of the undeniable connection between us all.

‘Music makes me happy and it is central to my life. When I sing, I see people soften and grown men cry.’

Born in Sweden and at home in Schull, West Cork, Griehsel has spent the last six years developing her show, Mamasongue and also sings with Barefoot Baroque, with legendary Irish band Interference and in Dogtail Soup, the West Cork supergroup she originally formed with her late husband, the singer-songwriter Colin Vearncombe (aka Black - ‘Wonderful Life’), the late Fergus O’Farrell (of Interference), Paul Tiernan (international Troubadour) and Maurice Seezer (pianist, accordionist, cellist and twice Golden Globe-nominated Film Music composer).

Moving in an ever-replenishing sea of music, the collectives interchange and regather, welcoming constantly new and returning players and voices into the swelling shoal, Niwel Tsumbu, Glen Hansard, Liam Ó Maonlaí and Marketa Irglova amongst them.

Camilla's musical journey ranges from pop to choral, avant-garde opera to gospel, from embodying traditional jazz to South American folk, and she is dedicated to bringing people together and connecting hearts through the power of music.

With Seezer’s keys as melodic and rhythmic catalyst and vocal harmony to sustain the shared music of the duo, like melting chocolate savoured on the tongue, her voice comes laced with the rum of intoxicating emotional power, the spice of experience and childlike excitement of what is wondrous and to be known and enjoyed in the moment.
