Senegal’s legendary band Orchestra Baobab take to The Everyman stage as part of Guinness Cork Jazz Festival.

On 24 November 2023, Orchestra Baobab released ‘50 ANS’, the first single from their upcoming album. Written by drummer Taga Koité and sung by his son Papino alongside Alpha Dieng, the song marks the band’s 50th anniversary. Recorded live at London’s renovated KOKO, ‘50 ANS’ showcases the group’s ability to reinvent itself while maintaining its Afro-Cuban roots. With rich rhythms, melodic singing and superb brass arrangements, the track is already considered a new classic. The song celebrates the band’s unity across generations and their continued creativity and enthusiasm.

Orchestra Baobab’s unique blend of Afro-Cuban, international pop and traditional Griot music remains as vibrant as ever.
