The 7 sons of Chicago perform this special show alongside their mother Aquilla Sadalla.

Aquilla’s drive and testimony is clearly spiritual in nature and wholistic in approach, no exceptions. “The music must play the larger role in reclaiming our glory”, as a major solution to the life problems that perpetually plague the human spirit seemingly more now than ever before. The time is at hand, the time is now for a music that can heal the world is emerging out of the depths of our pain from the lack of knowledge and absence of a cultural-based community. When we speak on saving the world, it must begin with music.

Aquilla has been in the field of education as a general and special needs educator for more than 35 years. As a vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter from a musical family legacy, she has used music as a primary tool and force to garner change in the classroom, as well as the community. As a committed educator and lifelong learner, she has also led these communities as an assistant principal, lead teacher, and case manager. Aquilla has earned an Ed.S/Education Specialist, C.A.S./Type 75 in Administration and Supervision, Master in Special Education, and Bachelors in History. Her published literary work includes T.R.U.S.T. (Time to REBUILD UNDERSTANDIND between STUDENTS & TEACHERS) on Amazon.com.

Her hard work and commitment to music and motherhood rewarded her a family of brass musicians who are collectively known to the world today as the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. Over 20 years with the renowned Kelan Phil Cohran, most noted African Skies have won acclaim notoriety and as a contributing member of Samana, an all-female jazz group; Nicole Mitchell; National Trust, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, to name only a few. Aquilla has made an indelible mark. Currently, she and her late husband, Sadiq, were joined not only in marriage but also in music to write over 30 soundtracks to be found on Soundcloud/Sadiq2; as HuNaFaa… those devoted to God they have created and produced albums, ‘We Can Change Things’, Smoovin’, and AsSalaamu Alaikum. She continues to inspire and educate young musicians, passing on her knowledge and passion for music to the next generation. Aquilla’s latest endeavors has been Paris Dejon Theater in France, and will the grace the stage in Belgium with her sons Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

Her latest album, Sadalla Rising, will be released soon.
