Parallel Society is the brainchild of Dublin based guitarist and composer Jan Henrik Rau. The quintet is a project that features emerging young talents from three different countries, Germany, Japan and Ireland.

Drawing inspiration from a variety of styles such as hip-hop, pop, grunge, classical, eastern music, ambience and modern jazz combined with powerful improvisation the music has a very personal touch and does not want to be categorised. The quintet interweaves electronic and acoustic soundscapes and there is a clear element of storytelling in each composition. Every song creates a different atmosphere with fascinating, mesmerizing and sometimes transcendental arrangements and truly original music.

The show at the Jazz-Coop will mark the end of their Europe tour with concerts in Prague, Berlin and London as well as a collaboration with playwright Philip St John at Farmleigh in Phoenix Park.

This band proves how improvised music will keep it’s relevance, never minding genre limits and jazz expectations!

"The talent and intricacy in this EP alone is incredible; we need to hear more from this group!“
