This time with a 'WALDIR AZEVEDO TRIBUTE'

Waldir Azevedo (1923–1980) was a pioneering Brazilian composer and cavaquinho player, renowned for his influence in Brazilian instrumental music. He is best known for his virtuosity on the cavaquinho, a small four-stringed instrument central to Brazilian choro and samba styles.

Azevedo gained international recognition with his 1947 composition "Brasileirinho", which became one of the most famous choro pieces ever. His style blended technical skill with an infectious rhythm, and he contributed significantly to popularizing the cavaquinho as a solo instrument rather than just an accompaniment tool in samba ensembles.

In addition to "Brasileirinho," some of his other famous compositions include "Delicado", "Vê Se Gostas", and "Pedacinhos do Céu". His work spanned the golden age of Brazilian music, and he collaborated with many notable musicians during his career, helping elevate instrumental music to greater prominence in Brazil.

Following the choro performance, get ready for the second concert curated by Luisa Annibali & Friends. This time they will present a special concert tribute to the incredible composer CARTOLA.

Cartola, whose real name was Angenor de Oliveira, was a renowned Brazilian sambista and composer, celebrated as one of the greatest figures in Brazilian music. Born on October 11, 1908, in Rio de Janeiro, he played a pivotal role in the development of samba, particularly with his poetic lyrics and innovative melodies. His works, many of which became classics, reflect the experiences and struggles of everyday life in Brazil, infused with feelings of love, longing, and nostalgia. Cartola's music gained recognition and continues to influence artists and musicians today, securing his legacy as a cornerstone of Brazilian cultural heritage.

JAM SESSION GUIDELINES:

Generally musicians can play maximum 2 songs each in order to give space to other artists that might want to join the jam. Percussionists will be more free to join.
