Fresh from the release of her sophomore album and supporting Irish tour, Jennifer McMahon brings her signature sound to Scott’s Jazz Club on November 22nd. With musical influences that span from the old-school-soul sound of the 60’s to the contemporary jazz compositions of the moment, Jennifer has long been garnering a reputation as a soulful and emotive storyteller.
A graduate of the renowned Berklee College of Music, she has studied alongside notable jazz musicians such as Olga Roman (voice), Perico Sambeat (sax) and Javier Vercher (sax) to name a few and has recently been featured by the college for her work as founder of the non-profit, Irish Women in Jazz, being awarded Culture Moves Europe Mobility Award to record the vocal/ electronic work ‘Witches, Bitches & Goddesses’ in Ljubljana and her latest EP release, entitled Willow.
Featured in The Goo magazine in July and September ’24, Jennifer is carving out a place for herself as a versatile and eclectic musician, producer and composer on the Irish scene. With themes that hone in on the human experience, her performances are open and honest, inviting the audience to participate at points.
Joining her at Scott’s will be long time collaborator and former Newpark Music Centre classmate Darren Giles on guitar, Baz Rycraft on double bass (Conor Guilfoyle Octet) and Hugh Denman on drums and percussion (ATSCH).
Expect some original music from both of Jennifer’s albums as well as arrangements by Perico Sambeat and contemporary tunes from the likes of Esperanza Spalding.
