"Cailleacha agus Bandia" is the newest project from vocalist, cellist and composer Aleka.
This project sees a point of departure from her usual influence of Romanian folk music, instead, looking to Irish mythology for inspiration. She has chosen 4 female characters from these great mythological stories as her basis for a set of brand new compositions.
Developing from a collaboration as part of IMC's Navigator Residency programme at Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford, Aleka is also collaborating for the first time with 2 visual artists who will create visuals for each piece.
This will be a truly immersive experience with live visuals coinciding with soaring vocals, melancholic cello, alongside supportive guitar from long time collaborator Chris Guilfoyle.
This event is presented by Aleka in association with Improvised Music Company, supported by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
The Complex is run by creative artists. It is the new Northside arts centre.
