A Tribute to Tom Jobim

Ireland Ireland 23 Wicklow St, Dublin 2 - The International Bar

20:30

Tom Jobim is arguably not only one of the biggest Brazilian composers of all time, but he was also made world-famous by tunes like "Corcovado," "How Insensitive", and "The Girl from Ipanema."

Comparable only to the greatness of composers like Duke Ellington in the United States and Astor Piazzolla in Argentina, Jobim's work represents the perfect mix between the popular rhythms of Brazil and the refined harmonies borrowed from both the classical and jazz worlds. In this tribute—led by Richard Ng (sax), Johnny Batista (guitar and arrangements), Alexandre Guerra (electric bass), and Teige Powell (drums)—the group will showcase some of Jobim's most remarkable tunes, displaying a jazz-oriented sound based on group interplay.

Venue Information - The International Bar

The International Bar is a traditional family-run irish pub with a long tradition of offering the best in entertainment. Whether it's the informal and unexpected encounters between the many travellers and tourists who gravitate here, the ad hoc "seisiun" when someone pulls out a bodhran and a fiddle of a Sunday, or the unique 7 night weekly comedy clubs upstairs, there's always something happening and it's always worth dropping in.
