Ballydehob Announces the Annual Ballydehob Jazz Festival 2021

Ballydehob Jazz Festival has against all the odds this year rolled out another outstanding festival programme featuring some of Irelands finest contemporary Jazz artists.

May Bank Holiday Weekend ( 30th April – 3rd May)

While we will not be taking to the streets this May Bank Holiday Weekend or piling into venues to watch live music , Ballydehob Village have been working hard to plan events so we can celebrate the Community, the Art and the Music that makes this the best small festival in the West!

Last year BJF, which has been running since 2007, had to go online and like all of Ireland, the streets went quiet.

“It’s been the strangest, toughest year in anyone’s living memory and we’re still not out of it yet, but the show must go on. We had to ask ourselves what we can do to keep musicians and artist going. Not to mention to bring a bit of life back to the streets, “

Joseph O’Leary, Ballydehob Jazz Festival Director.

Nigel Mooney "Mooney's Blues" Fund it Campaign Launched

Nigel Mooney is widely regarded as Ireland's leading jazz singer and guitarist. A charismatic figure on the Dublin jazz and blues scenes since the early 1980's, his Gripewater Blues Band spearheaded the blues movement in Ireland and drew many fans of both jazz and the blues. Mooney’s much-anticipated fourth album sees him collaborating with some well-known players in the recent history of jazz to create his finest work yet.

A fund it campaign has been launched to help the album come to fruition.

Tales from the far Side 01.04.21 Remembering Ralph Peterson - A tribute to a masterful timekeeper

On this edition I pay tribute to drummer, composer, bandleader, educator and entrepreneur RALPH PETERSON, an extraordinary timekeeper and messenger of Jazz, who sadly passed away early in March at the age of only 58 but who left us some wonderful music.
