Kasia Eliasz and Her 9-Piece Band to Bring Brazilian Music to Life
Kasia Eliasz and her energetic 9-piece band are back to take you on an exciting musical adventure through various Brazilian styles. Their performance will feature the diverse rhythms of Brazil, including capoeira, forró, samba, bossa nova, and frevo. These Brazilian beats, with roots in African traditions, are famous worldwide for their unique and lively sound. Samba, especially, is a highlight of the Brazilian Carnival, known for its catchy rhythms and festive feel.
Fresh from the release of her sophomore album and supporting Irish tour, Jennifer McMahon brings her signature sound to Scott’s Jazz Club on November 22nd. With musical influences that span from the old-school-soul sound of the 60’s to the contemporary jazz compositions of the moment, Jennifer has long been garnering a reputation as a soulful and emotive storyteller.
Both renowned instrumentalists, Jeff Denson (USA) and Romain Pilon (France) met 20 years ago at the Berklee College of Music. Back then, they engaged in numerous jam sessions, sharing a common taste for adventure and a love for jazz without preconceived ideas. Since then, they have each pursued brilliant careers on their respective sides of the Atlantic, recording numerous albums as leaders and collaborating with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world: Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Ben Wendel, Mike Stern, Jeff Ballard, Brian Blade, and more.
Improvisational jazz band tear holes in the space time continuum in Ballynahinch. Nahinch Notes takes a turn for the unexpected with a set from leading jazz improv master, Christopher-Joe McCann. Nahinch Notes is a new series of live music events for Ballynahinch, made possible by the support of Newry, Mourne, and Down District Council.

The Kind of New series continues with an extremely international flavour. Featuring an Italian vocalist, a Brazilian guitarist, a Turkish bassist and an Irish drummer, the four artists have found common ground in the music of Jobim, Bjork and their own original material.In a relatively short space of time, they have developed a strong group aesthetic and are excited to share this in the Lexicon on the 24th November.
Deriving from Ireland’s originalGuinness Jazz Band, so popular in the 80’s and 90’s, they have played major jazz festivals, and jazz clubs throughout Europe, with regular performances in Germany, Scandinavia, the UK, and Ireland.
The Sidney Edge Quartet, consisting of Adam Nolan on saxophone, Darragh Groome on drums, Naoise Mac Conghail on bass and Sidney Edge on guitar, a newly formed quartet. They will be playing some original compositions as well as carefully chosen standards, bringing a new light to them.

"Cailleacha agus Bandia" is the newest project from vocalist, cellist and composer Aleka.
This project sees a point of departure from her usual influence of Romanian folk music, instead, looking to Irish mythology for inspiration. She has chosen 4 female characters from these great mythological stories as her basis for a set of brand new compositions.
